Eligibility for Services

To be eligible for Upward Bound, students must meet the following criteria:

• Low income level
• Enrolled in a target Detroit or Inkster Public High School
• In the 9th or 10th grade upon application
• Have at least a 2.0 grade point average
• First-generation (parents did not graduate from a 4-year college/university)
• Must show academic need
• Must show motivation for success, as well as desire to enroll in a post-secondary institution
• Must participate in both Academic and Summer Year Programs.
