ACCESS programs awarded grants

Dr. Charles Green and the TRIO Higher Educational Opportunities-Educational Talent Search were recently awarded a $2,267,088 four-year grant from the U.S. Department of Education. The grant will provide college readiness and academic support services for 1,200 middle and high school Detroit Public School learners in select target schools.



Delta Saulsberry and the TRIO Educational Opportunity Center also received a $1,884,060 four-year grant from the U.S. Department of Education. The grant will provide GED preparation services, college readiness and academic support services for 4,000 low-income adult learners in concentrated in high poverty areas in Metro Detroit.



Dr. William Robinson and the WSU King-Chavez Parks College Day Program were recently awarded a $701,040 grant from the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Growth to operate the Gaining Early Awareness & Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR-UP) program for 2,600 middle and high school learners in the Detroit Public Schools.
