Chi Alpha Epsilon Honor Society
"In the tradition of past scholars, I pledge to continue to excel academically, to promote academic excellence in others, and to help others those who genuinely aspire to achieve the same goals. Furthermore, we promise to uphold the constitution of the Society, respect its traditions and edify its membership." Chi Alpha Epsilon Oath
About Chi Alpha Epsilon
Dr. Elbert M. Saddler founded the society in 1989 at West Chester University of Pennsylvania. Its purpose is to honor students in academic development programs whose success serve as a model for others. Through the efforts of Dr. Peter T. Kyper, director of developmental programs at West Chester University, the society has gained national recognition.
Members receive an honor cord and a certificate of membership, and each chooses a sponsor who is honored to present his or her inductee with the society’s pin at the ceremony. The symbols of Chi Alpha Epsilon are a gold quill, ivy, a royal blue candle and a ledger. These items are a meaningful part of the induction ceremony. The society publishes an online newsletter called The Quill, and holds national and regional conferences annually. Membership in the society provides students with a strong support system.
